Job Description:     Service Technician
Department:             Operations
Supervisor:              Operations Manager

Primary Function:   Service and repair of office furniture

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Inspect, diagnose, and repair customer products
  • Identify replacement parts needed
  • Maintain stock of service parts
  • Repair recalled products from various vendors
  • Clean furniture and treat fabric
  • Contact customers via phone and e-mail to schedule service requests
  • Complete service paperwork thoroughly and accurately for service administrator
  • Perform furniture deliveries as dispatcher requests
  • Maintain a clean, organized and safe service room and service vehicle
  • Obtain product repair instructions from vendor websites
  • Other duties as assigned by SmithCFI management
  • Off-load trucks of presold and customer owned furniture. Scan, tag, locate and place in

Job Specifications/Qualifications:

  • Experience installing and repairing office furniture is highly preferred
  • Mechanical inclination and aptitude
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Time management skills
  • Attention to detail is required
  • Basic computer knowledge, including e-mail and internet
  • Well-groomed and professional image
  • Valid driver’s license is required
  • Ability to pass drug screen and criminal background check

Education:  High School equivalency

Supervisory Responsibilities: None

Physical Demands:          

  • Frequently required to lift up to 50lbs.
  • Rarely required to lift up to 100lbs.

  • Frequent kneeling on the floor

Work Environment: 10% of time is in warehouse and adjacent office, 90% of time is at customer location. Typical hours are Monday-Friday 7:30am-4:30pm. Some overtime and/or afterhours work is needed.
